Business Retention and Expansion - Other Projects
| Business Retention & Expansion | Vision/Mission | Strategy | Uptowne Olds | Fair Trade | Other Projects |

Along with developing a strategy for retaining businesses and helping them expand, and the efforts of the Uptowne Olds sub-committee, the Business Retention and Expansion Committee has found their projects expanding to encompass more than just supporting businesses in the downtown core. Sometimes this support leads them to other important projects such as:

  • Main Street Project
    • Alberta's main streets are the traditional heart of community life and constitute a valuable record of our past. Through the Alberta Main Street Programme, the Town of Olds is hoping to restore the historic and architectural character of our downtown area.
    • An historic building survey grant has been received and is currently underway.
  • Monitoring initiatives to affordable housing shortages and labour shortages.

BUSINESS VITALITY INITIATIVE
The BRE Committee conducted Business Vitality Initiatives to explore the perceptions of citizens and business people about the business friendliness in the community. Through a process of community meetings, focus groups, questionnaires, statistics, and written reports, the community assesses its current reality, focuses on what needs to be done, and then takes action.
